INTERUNIVERSITAIR MICRO-ELECTRONICA CENTRUM (IMEC)
Type of organisation :
Description :
IMEC (Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre) is a world-leading research institute based in Leuven, Belgium, focused on nanoelectronic and digital technologies. It brings together industry leaders, academia, and governments to advance innovations in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, healthcare, energy, and sustainable technologies. IMEC is active in bringing innovative solutions via HEU projects aiming at sustainable mobility and logistics. IMEC harnesses large-scale data to build their predictive modelling, then applies them to optimize multimodal passenger/freight transport systems towards time, cost and emission efficiency.
Role in the project :
IMEC leads a task on predicting the traffic state through times. We propose algorithms to combine multi-source historical data on traffic network to forecast the evolution of traffic situations (e.g., volume, density, and congestion risk, among others) in the near future horizon. The solutions will be adapted to solve the prediction requirements coming from different use cases in this project. Next, we apply the predictive score together with logistics constraints to output the optimal routing for passengers and freight transport, which minimize the delay, cost or environmental footprint. Besides, we support partners in testing and evaluation the effectiveness of these technical solutions.
