The European project MODALSHIFT will develop a framework to optimise transport networks and traffic management.
The transport we want emits less CO2, but we also want users to move smoothly, reliably and safely, leaving behind delays and problems in transfers. Funded by Horizon Europe, the MODALSHIFT project, whose technical coordinator is the Technological Institute of Aragon, has set out to optimise transport networks and traffic management.
Throughout history, transportation has been the backbone of civilization and progress. From the invention of the wheel to modern aviation and high-speed trains, every advancement in transportation has expanded human mobility, trade, and cultural exchange. But we are in a moment of change. From the Technological Institute of Aragon (ITA), Shaghayegh Rahnama, R+D+i technician, explains that « current global challenges such as climate change, urban congestion, energy consumption and supply chain disruptions require a transformation in the way people and goods move around the planet ». He assures that « the development of new and smarter forms of transport is no longer optional, but essential to build a sustainable and efficient future ».
